Amazingly smooth, efficient power

The Civic Hybrid feels just like a normal, responsive Civic, but it's powered by Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid technology system.

IMA combines a 1.3-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with a lightweight, high-output electric motor that assists the engine during acceleration and at higher speeds. Then, when you're braking, decelerating or going downhill, it recharges its own batteries.

What is a hybrid vehicle?

A hybrid vehicle combines a petrol-powered engine with an electric motor to help lower emissions and increase fuel efficiency. The Civic Hybrid uses Honda's Integrated Motor Assist IMA® technology, which integrates a 1.3-litre i-VTEC petrol engine for primary power, and an ultra-thin electric motor for added power and fuel economy.

Exterior

Dramatic aerodynamic sweep

Civic Hybrid puts a new angle on efficient design. The long windshield sweeps dramatically into the hood for a futuristic exterior style and superior aerodynamics and maximised fuel efficiency. A new six-sided grille and front bumper also give the Civic hybrid an updated appearance.

Fog lights

In inclement weather, commuter driving is at its most perilous. The Civic Hybrid's fog lights help to illuminate the road ahead, so you can safely and easily negotiate traffic during low-visibility conditions.

High-efficiency rear spoiler

A rear spoiler improves aerodynamics and helps fine tune performance, while adding to the Civic Hybrid's stand-out design.

Protective side mouldings

Body-side moulding features a stylish chrome strip. Not only does it accentuate the Civic Hybrid's clean lines, it protects the doors from minor nicks and scrapes.

The cabin of the Civic Hybrid combines quality construction and materials with thoughtful, ergonomic design. This car is not just more environmentally friendly. With plenty of room in the front and rear, and very comfortable seats, the Civic Hybrid is wonderfully people friendly too.

Premium sound system

With a convenient MP3 player auxiliary jack, and an MP3/WMA compatible six-CD tuner sound system, you can play your music any way you like. Speed-sensitive volume compensation even knows when to kick it up a notch.

Easy-to-read displays

The multiplex dash puts important information front and centre. On the back-lit, dual-level displays you’ll find the Civic Hybrid’s unique display for battery charge level and the IMA ‘charge’, ‘assist’ and ‘AUTO STOP’ displays. To put a smile on your face, Honda has included a handy Average Fuel Consumption Indicator.

Ample boot space

The clever design of the battery pack behind the rear seats means there's plenty of room in the boot of the Civic Hybrid, so transporting bulky items like suitcases, shopping or sporting gear is a breeze.

Everything at your reach

The Civic Hybrid features manual tilt and telescope steering wheel adjustment and also has audio controls on the left side of the steering wheel for volume and channel selection. Cruise control buttons are located on the right side of the steering wheel.

The Civic Hybrid drives very positive change. Under certain driving conditions, the electric motor alone can power the car. That means it's emitting no pollution at all. Even the Civic Hybrid's materials are earth friendly, with as many olefin resin and rubber parts as possible to help promote recycling.

Honda's Climate Care Warranty

Honda has joined forces with Greenfleet Australia to help offset the carbon emissions produced by driving the Civic Hybrid during a three-year period. For every Civic Hybrid purchased, Greenfleet Australia will plant six native trees for each of the three years covered by Honda's warranty.

AUTO STOP helps clear the air

When you stop at a traffic light, the Civic Hybrid's petrol engine shuts off automatically. Then, when you take your foot off the brake, the engine restarts quietly, immediately and just as automatically. This AUTO STOP system contributes to both greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions.*

*Under certain conditions the engine will remain operational when the car is stationary.

Safety

All the safety features you're looking for

With its impressive list of standard safety features, the Civic Hybrid doesn't just help to protect the environment. It protects its driver, passengers, pedestrians and other vehicles too. Honda innovations like G-Force Control technology provide outstanding structural safety. These combined with multiple airbags, front seat pretensioners and anti-whiplash active headrests, deliver optimum occupant protection in the event of a collision.

Stability protection with traction control

Honda's Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system monitors individual wheel speed, steering angle and lateral G-force. If it detects oversteering, understeering or traction loss, it can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine speed to help keep you in constant control.

Not only does the Civic Hybrid provide the protection of front, side and curtain airbags, its front airbags provide extra protection to passenger and driver. Honda's sophisticated dual-stage, dual-threshold system optimises the airbag deployment to match the speed and severity of a crash. It also helps to minimise injuries that can sometimes be caused by airbags themselves.

Impact absorbing frame

The Civic Hybrid's sophisticated Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) increases its impact compatibility with different-sized vehicles and, in frontal collisions, helps redirect energy around the rigid passenger safety cell.

Side-impact door beams

In the unlikely event of a side impact, a highly rigid beam in each door is strategically positioned to resist intrusion into the passenger compartment, helping to ensure the highest levels of driver and occupant protection.

Anti-Lock Braking

Along with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), the Civic Hybrid features Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, which distributes braking force to each wheel based on the passenger load.

Theft immobiliser

When the security alarm is activated, the immobiliser provides a powerful theft deterrent by shutting down the engine's fuel injection and ignition. Only a matching digital code in the ignition key can override it.
